Microsoft MakeCode x Marvel Studios
The Microsoft Multicultural team was tapped by Xbox to help come up with ways to reach out to the Black community for an upcoming collaboration with Marvel Studios Black Panther Wakanda Forever. Working closely with Microsoft’s Make Code Program, we worked with Letitia Wright from the movie to help us share this exciting free coding program with Black and Brown youth.
My role on this project:
For this project, I was asked to take part in the script writing process for the video we’d create for Letitia Wright. I did so with Alise Crittendon. The team thought that we would be perfect at speaking to the community in an authentic, relatable way, and in way that felt natural and inspiring.
The film:
The script we wrote would make final edit, and was loved by Letitia and her team. The video also ended up being on of the most liked posts and shared on Microsoft’s socials to date. There was so much positive sentiment, excitement and brand uplift for this collaboration. This film was also shown at in-person events we hosted in predominantly Black areas, for students and young people to attend.
The reach:
Here are just a few of the figures that came out of this project:
1.3M engagements
6.6M Impressions
1.1K Comments
5 Creator Collaborations
5.7K Shares
500+ Attendees
The praise:
“She’s such a special leader, and when she gets the chance to use her influence to inspire and encourage children and young people, especially young Black girls to discover and chase their dreams, she’s next level. You all are doing something important here. Well done.”

“I had the opportunity to work with Josh on the Microsoft x Black Panther program in the fall. Josh is an incredibly talented art director and collaborative teammate who brought the best energy, thinking and creativity to the program. Josh asked all the right questions about the client, landscape and creative brief and delivered on the creative ask. Josh and his creative partners delivered compelling assets (with Letitia Wright!!!) that beautifully and succinctly conveyed the message of this program and exceeded client expectations.”
